It was heralded as a grand experiment that would, many liberals hoped, promote gender equality and open the door to female Marines being cleared for the toughest of combat duty. Well, as the Marine Corps Times reports, that is not what’s happened.

“The two-and-a-half year period in which the Marine Corps’ Infantry Officer Course (IOC) became gender-integrated for research will end without a single female graduate.”

Not one woman who went through the course, including a grueling Combat Endurance test, made the grade. Every one dropped out or was cut.

The Marine Corps Times article notes: “IOC, held quarterly at Marine Corps Base Quantico, Virginia, began accepting female officers fresh out of training in September 2012 as part of a larger research effort into the feasibility of opening ground combat jobs to women.”

As the so called “gender-integrated” period progressed, fewer and fewer female volunteers took advantage of the opportunity to prove themselves.

“By July 2014, only 20 female officers had attempted the course. Only one made it through the Combat Endurance Test, and none made it to the end.”

The Daily Caller reported in September of last year on a female officer in the Corps, Capt. Lauren Serrano, who spoke out in bold opposition to what she saw as an expensive and wasteful effort to promote a political agenda.

Capt. Serrano, writing in the Marine Corps Gazette Journal, argued that women do not belong in the U.S. Marine Corps Infantry. The results of the experiment just completed would seem to support her argument.

“Although perhaps advantageous to individuals and the national movement for complete gender equality,” she wrote, “incorporating women into infantry units is not in the best interest of the Marine Corps or U.S. national security.

“Incorporating women into the infantry does not add to the infantry mission to ‘locate, close with, and destroy the enemy by fire and maneuver and/or repel the enemy assault by fire and close combat.’ Period.”

As WND reported in October of 2014, the Center for Military Readiness (CMR) clearly saw the writing on the barracks wall when it comes to female Marines being suited for front-line combat.

According to CMR, a non-profit think tank, the Obama administration expects the Marine Corps to find a way to assign women to ground combat units without lowering standards.

“In the independent view of CMR, quantitative research done so far indicates that these expectations cannot be met,” the group said.
